Meet Satsuki Shibuya: Spiritual Thinker, Artist & Poet.
7:15:00 μ.μ.Her writings and her paintings make me feel the same intense feelings. Feelings of harmony, inspiration and mental uplift. Maybe the medium of expression is different (poems & drawings), but is the same spiritual and creative person that is looking for ways to turn feelings and thoughts into a tangible way. In that way, Satsuki Shibuya, succeeds to make herself feel free and calm and at the same time she helps people to find their own way of thinking, feelings and evolution.
For a moment, reading the two last sentences above, i thought that i was writing for me. This is what is happening when you meet people where the mind, the soul and the heart have common core values and intense feelings. Maybe it sounds selfish but it's a truth and i feel free by saying truths that don't hurt others.
I found myself in Satsuki Shibuya. Satsuki Shibuya is spiritual thinker, artist and poet. I discovered her accidentally and immediately i identified myself deeply with her thoughts and beliefs. After that i looked even more about her great work and - with no surprise- i found that her work is recognised and that she has make important cooperations, just like the one with Tappan Collective (an online gallery that supports emerging artists globally).
Satsuki Shibuya represents her way of translating the energy of the unseen, spiritual world into something more tangible in the real world. Born and raised in the constant activity of Los Angeles, California, her work blends the powers of art and spirituality and as a second-generation Japanese recognises that belonging is about those in your life rather than where you physically sit.
You could feel uplifted by listening Satsuki's interview, either through the recorded - raw material- at the below video or by reading it in a written way below. Since it comes from a recorded interview, the written way has an oral "format".
I suggest you to listen to the recorded interview since her answers in combination with her voice transfer you the whole feeling in a more vivid way. I love that my questions are read by Satsuki cause this is part of my interview procedure. Reading the questions by yourself, makes you understand, in your own way, the vibes of the question. I really liked this part.
Enjoy!
Twelve winks: As an artist, when you draw, you trust your senses and your intuition. You don't have any preconception for the final result/drawing. Do you act in the same way, at your everyday life?
Satsuki Sibuya: Actually I would like to as much as I would love to and it is something that I believe through my artwork and now especially with my daughter being born, it is truly pushing me in the direction that I believe my spirit wants to go, which is to let go and fully be a part of the universal rhythm of life and to not think but to really just follow my intuition. I think that as I am growing older it's also something that I've noticed time and time again where if I do follow my intuition and I just allow things to find a place that everything works out in such a beautiful way, versus I believe my nature and how I've been brought up is more controlled and so with the way that i paint was because it was a complete opposite of the way that I usually am, in my every day life. I do like very loose in my everyday life. I do love some looser boundaries and so I don't do well with things that are too structured but at the same time I need things that give a little bit of a structure and within that structure I like to be as free as possible. So to ask your question, I think with painting I'm definitely all intuition no boundaries just going and if that's probably what I love about it, but in my every day life no, I will say that yes I would eventually want to get there to the point where it's like my paintings where I am completely loose and I just go with the flow but in actuality it's not like that for me because I'm very sensitive to energies. I do have to have boundaries and I do have to have a sense a little bit of sense of control in some aspects so that I can be at peace and be relaxed in more of the real world.
Twelve winks: As a poet and spiritual thinker, your words give to people a deeper sense of thinking concerning life, as a way to awaken peace of mind and growth. Since the spiritual/theoretical part - even though it is full of truth and wisdom - isn't so easy to become tangible, do you have any advise so as to help people adapt those great writings in their everyday life?
Satsuki Sibuya: So actually the writings come directly from, so the way that I work is with paintings that it's intuitive but I'm connected to the universal energy and it's translated as visual as well as with poetry it's the same process but it's translated into words. so the messages that I write it's not actually, for example, it's not like "i Satsuki who is saying this..." is the way I live my life and so therefore these are the words it is definitely not like that, it's more I receive these messages and then I'm transcribing them and if anything a lot of times when I read them back I am surprised like awe! this is something new to me i didn't think of it like that or I never thought about it like that or so I'm learning as I'm writing along with everybody else so I'm just more than messenger and I share these messages because I feel like they're very powerful for me, you know as learning as a human and I feel like it's really wonderful to be able to share with other people if other people choose to read it and if they feel connected to it or if there something about it that helps to...like a connect to their soul and their spirits then i feel like its well worth the share. So, for other people i can share what I do when I get these messages is that I try to apply it to my every day life in increments so I don't try to do it all at one time and I always remind myself to give myself grace and so these messages all refer to it again and again, I look at them to remind myself like oh yeah that's right. I remember what i wanted to work on, there is some kind of message that came through a poetry and it really connected with me then I might keep looking at it to remind my myself, that is the direction i want to go. So, I think reminding ourselves is important not taking it to the point where you have to be like this right away but to give ourselves the space and the time and the grace to be able to grow into and know that it's a process it's not something that will happen overnight and to congratulate yourselves and being really good to ourselves and gentle and anytime we make even a little bit of a change or a little bit of progress towards something that we want to achieve to just be happy with where we are and know that we are good enough today and any new changes that may not be enough good tomorrow and that's OK. We don't have to become super enlighted beings overnight... i am not ...i am definitely not like that I have a lot of things to work on myself. So, with these messages, people can just look at them...its uplifting and hopefully that's something that they will be able to refer back to and that it'll bring them happiness or some kind of sense of awakening.I think that's something that I truly believe as people awakening to their true callings to their true beings and I am hoping that by sharing this poetry messages that it will do that for people. So, yes. Be gentle with yourself I would say that's probably the best way and continue to remind yourself that this is what I want, this is how I want to be, or these are the things that i want to incorporate into my life.
Twelve winks: The high/intense senses and feelings of you, are like a gift, cause they are the reason for your spiritual and creative work. You transform this intensity into a tangible way through your words and your drawings. Do you think that this procedure works for you as a way to feel more free and calm in your life?
Satsuki Sibuya: Yes, I definitely think so I'm kind of back to what I was sharing earlier in the other question is that I do believe that with writing and with writing poetry not long from definitely not poetry and painting it's a way for me to be directly my spirit I guess or to be...
It's almost like if I can be what I truly feel I am, then it would be the painting or it would be the poetry. It's almost like that's my true spirit like not bound by any kind of physical being or not by like bound my mind or ego or nothing just like pure you know like this this is it and so when I paint and when I write poetry it's almost like I'm able to be completely free of any kind of restrictions and I think that I am as someone who is very sensitive again it's necessary for me to have these creative outlets because in every day life I'm not able to and so by being, having a space to be able to be free to express these aspects of myself, it helps me to keep a balance between like the physical world you know, that we live in every day, cause sometimes for me it's very heavy being in the physical world and so it allows me to stay light and to be connected to a kind of a higher energies that I feel and to be able to kind of let go and just be free and be me. I hope that make sense. But yes it is definitely a very important aspect of my being and I think that's what keeps me balanced...
helps me keep me physically healthy mentally healthy as well so yes very important part of helping to bring that one to my reality. I like calmness , happiness because I feel very restless if I'm not able to create and not able to express that side of myself.
Twelve winks: In the other hand, the same intensity of your feelings - as referred above, they work in harmonic and exceptional positive way - do you feel that sometimes work in a controversial way, taking power over you in a not pleasant form? If yes, have you find any ways to make it feel more soft or you just remain patient until it turns again into a positive feeling?
Satsuki Shibuya: I have painted paintings which I have not released and I don't plan to, i have thrown away quite a few of them. I just need it to let it out. When the emotion or the feeling was very negative or heavy and the painting comes out very - to me at least - looks very ugly and heavy and exactly what I'm feeling it comes out . I think painting and writing poetry it's so truthful and so transparent that i think that shows exactly what a person is. There are times where yes I have created things just to let it out, I've written things just to let it out ..a journal not as much since my daughter I do I did have a daily journal up to practice where I would write these things out to get it out. I also practice I'm grinding my energy grounding my energy and also again to continue to tap into the higher part of myself to let go of this and have your energies and so lately I have not been painting.. Inviting these all i wanna do is just kind of meditate ..yoga release in other ways to conserve my energy so that when I paint and when I write i'm using energies I'm in a way that I want to. So, my process is changing because I have limited time than i was before. I had more time to be able to process it through painting and writing but now I feel like I'm able to do it another way and so I've chosen to save my creative energies for creating things only during times when I am ready to paint or write in a way that I feel very strongly connected to it.
And aligned and when I don't release it in other ways. Now that's kind of how I've been doing recently and I think this continues to evolve to which I like and I just continue to hone in on ways of creating or ways of being that I feel is more efficient with my energy because energy at least for me is very limited.
I get tired easily physically and so i have to be very selective of how i am using my energies throughout the day and i think that this is also kind a bit of switch for me as well.
Twelve winks: Your cooperations (i.e Tappan Collective cooperation), is a vivid example/proof that since you trusted your intuition, then a whole new world trusted you back. Do you think that once people find our true self, this could attract - in a magic way- friends, cooperations, relationships, life in general, that could work as the rest missing parts ourselves?
Twelve winks: Your cooperations (i.e Tappan Collective cooperation), is a vivid example/proof that since you trusted your intuition, then a whole new world trusted you back. Do you think that once people find our true self, this could attract - in a magic way- friends, cooperations, relationships, life in general, that could work as the rest missing parts ourselves?
Satsuki Shibuya: I believe 100 % that yes, if we fully trust in ourselves we are aligned to our true calling, calling as a spirit and we live our life according to this not because we think we should be doing something or because we are forcing it to happen but just allowing things to align and to... doors opening and things like.. and this also goes into consideration doors closing our relationship ending as well not to be afraid of these things happening but again flowing with it and being OK with things happening as they happen because there's always a bigger picture to the story ..I guess to our lives...you know in front of our eyes at that moment it may seem very negative whatever is happening or very positive but we have to understand that whatever is happening is in that moment in time and that can change in the next second it can be something miraculously beautiful could be something tragically I'm sad but at the same time understanding that this again in a bigger bigger picture of things is part of the path that were trying to make and the thing that continues to ground me is to understand that whatever is happening at this moment in time for me right now or whatever I feel very strongly aligned to is what I need to be doing at this moment at this time and to continue to listen to the inner voice the inner knowing that tells me OK. This is a direction you need to go. This is something that you really are to look into it or not and to keep going with that and keep trusting...i think before people start doing that is important to develop the intuition and to try ... little increments of first you know ... I wouldn't tell anybody to just jump in and and to make big decisions but to develop the intuitions through small increments small things that you know you can kind of test the waters and see if it works or not whether this is relationships or work or anything it works with anything just it's important to know what is your own voice what is someone else's voice what is the mind that's telling you you should do something versus your intuition guiding you all these things it's important to first no decipher it inside you what those differences are because if that's a little bit muddy and not clear then it becomes difficult very fast and confusing as well so yes I would say it does work across the board bleeding in your intuition and believing in in your your path but making sure that you're very very clear not a one hundred percent but at least inside you have like a compass that tells you it okay yes this is intuition that no that is my ego talking or no that was based on something that somebody else told me and it's not what I believe and so being able to kind of separate those things I think is very important before moving ahead and letting your intuition guide you just so that you know what is your intuition and what's not.
Twelve winks: what raises your serotonin at your everyday life.
Satsuki Shibuya: I guess it's when i know. Or when I when I. I know that I'm helping somebody else I realized as I get older I think that's what I realize that makes me so so happy from the like the bottom of my heart is when I see another person truly happy because of them living their life to their fullest potential or living their life to their true calling or in somehow in some way being able to facilitate that whether it's through my art or through my poetry or even just be able to help someone I think it brings so much joy and seeing people grow and change and to become one give a goose goose goose bumps just thinking about this but yes it just brings me so much energy like seeing other people fully, like, how do I say it I can feel it but I'm trying to bring words to it it's almost like people are fully growing into their beings beyond just their physical self you know it's almost like when you see someone that's living their life and you can feel their energy that that's what they're meant to do or like they're like the happiest person that you've ever met or I don't know and but not think that they genuinely you know that they're very in tune with who they are when I am able to help other people realize this within them through whatever I am doing that brings me just so much happiness seeing other people happy of course but being able to be a part of that in some way I think it means a lot to me and so I'm always wanted to in some way like help another person but not just help doing whatever but through my own personal gifts and so I think that that's with with anybody I always feel like you know if people are able to tap into their gifts and through those gifts that they brought with them to earth that they can make huge differences in the world you know just by being themselves just by being who they are because that's being genuine and I think humans are are naturally drawn to people who are genuinely authentic and who they are I think that that changes lives tremendously so yes so I think that's what makes me go makes me very excited is seeing people fully reaching their potential and even beyond you know it's going from there and just moving even beyond what they would have ever imagined.
