Evi Alexaki asks: What ‘Lommer’ name means/symbolizes?
Lommer ladies answer: Lommer name, comes from the acronym Love Materials MEet Requirements. This name symbolizes the philosophy we wanted to represent. The different materials, with their special characteristics are called to serve the daily needs, always guided by the high quality and the minimal aesthetics.

Evi Alexaki asks: A simple idea, with a twist, could be a really strong idea. Yours i believe is such one. How did you come up with the idea to create bags and accessories with materials, that we could meet at our everyday life but at the same time are so unique.
Lommer ladies answer: The idea to create bags from such materials, came up after many years of experimentation and many hours of brainstorming. The special materials was and will always be one of our loves. We consider that is really creative to discover the properties, as well as the capabilities of the materials and to make use of them at unexpected circumstances. The main material, with which we work, is called EVA, is an industrial material that we met during our research. At that moment, we have succeed to have a form of EVA that is produced according to our own standards. We highlighted features of the material that we liked, such as the fact that is light and at the same time really durable, while we also wanted to improve the sense that this material has at the touch. The same qualities of the material drived us at the creation of unique bags and accessories, in combination with our design. Due to those qualities, we have create a variety of products, such us: small wallets and accessories, as well as big tote bags and backpacks.

Evi Alexaki asks: From where do you get your inspiration concerning your products design?
Lommer ladies answer: Minimalism, as an artistic movement, is our inspiration as fas as our design and the overall look & feel of our brand, is concern. Simple and at the same time strict aesthetic, without unnecessary elements and geometrical perspective. At this frame, we add also our point of view, escaping from the absolute lines and playing with schemes and levels. In that way, our designs, escape from the expected and we draw unique products. 

Evi Alexaki asks: Two partners. Two brains. Your ideas match or is a result of a time consuming procedure, so as to persuade each other for the final outcome?
Lommer ladies answer: Two brains are better than one! Since we met, we understood that we communicate at the same wavelenght. We cooperate flawless and often we complement, automated ,each other's thought. Usually we start from the need that we have to satisfy with what we are going to design. In that way, we begin some tests and at that point the ideas of each one of us, build the final result. This result, finally, express everything that we would like to succeed, having always in our mind the initial lines and rationale, that we have set for Lommer brand.
Evi Alexaki asks: You have already won design awards. What do you think that differentiates your products?
Lommer ladies answer: The truth is that distinctions, like the design global awards, come to confirm us that what we do is a different approach that stands out. The first award is the A' Design Award, for one of our first products/designs, named "EvaTwo". This award came just right one year after our company's (Lommer) establishment and is one of the most important/bigger distinctions at the field of design.
Our second distinction concerns our urban backpack, named "EvaPack", and got an International Design Award (IDA).
At both cases, what made the difference is Lommer's approach to use unexpected materials meeting daily needs. Also, an other important element, where we believe that plays role, is the timelessness of our products design. We don't design according to seasonality and we don't follow the pace of renewal, that fashion does. We approach this industry in the way of product design. So, we are in a position to combine the differenet materials, that we have available. In example, at the bag "EvaTwo", seat belts are used as straps and in fact, due to the way they fasten to the bag, those straps could be changed easily by the buyer giving him the possibility to create different color combination by just changing just one feature. At the casee of "EvaPack", we use sailing rope, that has the ability to go through itseld. Taking advantage of this feature, we create the necessary loop/handle, while at the same time we make sure that the back handles have the same length, without the usage of additional accessories. Wherever there is a problem, we are looking for the solution.


Evi Alexaki asks: After five years of business and creation, what is this that evolved you as persons and as professionals.
Lommer ladies answer: All these years, we have definetely evolved both as humans and as professionals. Five years with so many moments and experiences, creative and proffessional. Our contact with the people who loved and still love our designs and creations, our important and longterm cooperation with clients and suppliers and all the creative moments of this whole trip did not pass without affecting us. Something that made us start Lommer and is always there to evolve us, is our love for what we do and we always look for something different and for something extra.
In that way, we are always in move and we move forward.

Αγαπώ να αναζητώ καινούρια γνώση και νέες ιδέες. Σε αυτή τη διαδικασία, όταν βρω κάτι που να "μιλάει" έντονα στο μυαλό και στη καρδιά μου (ένα άτομο, ένα αντικείμενο, ή οτιδήποτε άλλο), μαγνητίζομαι και θέλω να το κρατήσω ευγενικά σφιχτά, στη ζωή μου. 

Η "υπόθεση Lommer", όπως την αποκαλώ, έγκειται στην αίσθηση της απλότητας, στο twist που κρύβει ο σχεδιασμός των προϊόντων, στον ιδιαίτερο συνδυασμό των υλικών και στο πάθος με το οποίο οι "κυρίες Lommer", δημιουργούν αυτές τις χειροποίητες ομορφιές.
